Fish don't make Omega-3s.
Algae Does.

We produce fish-free, contaminant-free, DHA at scale using whisky by-products.

Why are Omega-3s important?

DHA is one of the few essential nutrients in diets. That’s because the body can’t make enough of on its own. It’s essential for brain and eye development, heart function and immune resilience – which is why it ends up in everything from infant formula to pet food to aquafeed. We’re not changing why it matters. We’re changing where it comes from.

For millions of years, algae has been making Omega-3s

Fish accumulate it because they eat algae.

MiAlgae goes back to the beginning – we grow algae on land using whisky
by-products to deliver the same Omega-3s that algae in the ocean makes.

No trawling. No depletion. No harm.

By growing algae on land, MiAlgae offers a more sustainable way to access Omega-3s, without relying on wild fish stocks or taking from our oceans.

Our goal is to produce:

0 %

reduction in global dependence on fish oil

0

tonnes of DHA rich, fish free algae produced per year

Using

0 million

litres of whisky by-products

Saving

0

tonnes of equivalent of CO2

Replacing

0 million

tonnes of wild fish replaced

Reliable. Scalable. Clean. Sustainable.

We produce fish-free, DHA you can depend on.

Reliable

Same high dose of DHA. Every batch. Grown to spec, not caught by chance. No seasonable variability.

Scalable

Based in Scotland, modular fermentation built next to feedstock. Targeting 53,000 tonnes per year from our Grangemouth facility.

Clean

Free from heavy metals, microplastics and contaminants. One ingredient your QA team won’t worry about.

Sustainable

Low-impact, low carbon production powered using by-products. Less waste in the oceans, and no wild fish required to deliver consistent DHA.

The whisky advantage

We feed our algae with nutrient-rich by-products from Scotland’s whisky industry – the perfect algae food.

The result: a premium source of DHA with a lower carbon output and the avoidance of putting by-products onto the fields and into the sea.
